This year’s edition of the SXSW festival offered a diverse and exciting selection of speakers, concerts and screenings as ever. For 10 days Austin turned into an interactive universe where everything, and we mean EVERYTHING, was communicating with you through lavish exteriors. From buildings you probably hadn’t even noticed before to what used to be vacant parking lots.
Here at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce’s Austin chapter, thanks to this mega event, March is by far our busiest time of the year. Sweden is among the top countries represented at SXSW, and just like previous years, hundreds of Swedes were coming to town. Some to speak at one of the many events, some to seek inspiration for future missions and some to expand their network. And for all of the above, we were here to help.
This year we teamed up with Media Evolution through the Southern Sweden Creatives Project to create events with the objective to help Swedes get the most out of their stay in Austin. The result? A business matchmaking service, a stage for Swedish Startups and the ultimate Swedish hang out during SXSW. Or in other words, a huge success and a great concept to revive again next year.
Finally, it’s safe to say you either love or hate this city altering festival, but regardless you can’t deny that SXSW, with its unique mix of the best from the creative industries, is a world class venue for everyone involved. Furthermore a key accelerator and asset for the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in Austin and our work to promote and facilitate business between Sweden and Texas. So we say keep it coming!
